Why The "Perfect" Fantasy Football Draft Is Losing

Why The "Perfect" Fantasy Football Draft Is Losing

If you feel like you drafted well in August, but your fantasy teams aren't doing well, you're not alone.

A lot has happened so far (derogatory).

Here are some painful truths that might explain why your killer roster … is killing your vibe.

TEs Are Outscoring WRs

Chris Olave has the 4th-most targets (54) and the 2nd-most receiving yards (537). Yay! And yet, 17 TEs have scored more TDs than Olave through the first five weeks.

And guess whatttt? He's not alone. There have been 11 TEs that have scored more TDs than Malik Nabers. And seven TEs have outscored Justin Jefferson.

I'm looking at you, Isaiah Likely …

Elderly QBs Still Got It

Kirk Cousins (38 years old) ranks 2nd in the league in passing TDs. He's still got it, folks! In fact, Cousins has thrown six more TDs than C.J. Stroud, seven more TDs than Justin Herbert, and six more TDs than Bo Nix (who has already played in Week 6, btw).

And despite taking the 4th-most sacks this season, Aaron Rodgers still ranks 11th in passing yards, 11th in passing attempts, and is T-5th for passing TDs.

Respect your elders.

The Best Rushers Aren't Even The Best RBs

Yea. This one might p*ss you off.

Sorry?

  • Aaron Jones has rushed for more yards than Jonathan Taylor and Kyren Williams.
  • Josh Allen (239) has more rushing yards than Rhamondre Stevenson (227), Quinshon Judkins (221), and MarShawn Lloyd (112).
  • Brian Robinson Jr. (yes, Brian) has more rushing TDs than Omarion Hampton, Chuba Hubbard, Bucky Irving, Bhayshul Tuten, and Jeremiyah Love.

I'm sure things will all probably (maybe [hopefully]) right themselves in the coming weeks.

But it sure hurts.

Week 6 Rankings vs. Fantasy Life Consensus

Could Drake Maye really be a Top-2 QB in Week 6?

Alex Cupps thinks so.

Cupps is planting his flag on 10 players that he's got higher and lower than Fantasy Life's Consensus rankings.

  • Chuba Hubbard (higher)
  • Xavier Worthy (higher)
  • Emeka Egbuka (lower)

Last-Minute Starts/Sits For Week 6

When Dwain McFarland says "Start 'Em", I start 'em.

It's why I threw Sam Darnold on my bench right before TNF and plugged in "Smash Start" Jordan Love.

But if you're a Jacoby Brissett, Omarion Hampton, or Kyle Pitts manager, you might want to think twice before starting them in Week 6 …
